Whoa! Overnight, Days of Our Lives Has a New Nicole!

We’ve seen more than a few different Nicole eras over the years on Day of Our Lives. These days, she’s focused on building a healthy, stable family with EJ, but it wasn’t that long ago that she was prone to a litany of crimes. Historically, Nicole’s never been above sabotage, blackmail, kidnapping, drugging, bribery, faking a pregnancy, assorted scheming and the occasional attempted murder thrown in here and there.

She’s mellowed out in recent years, but still, that colorful past has made her a pretty darn good match for EJ. Because while she wants to move forward with building a drama-free family together (good luck with that), she wasn’t exactly all that shocked or concerned about EJ trying to murder Ava! It was more along the lines of, “Oh, silly EJ. We need to stop that kind of stuff, it’s not good for the baby’s future.”

Still the Nicole of today is a far cry of the Nicole who would blackmail EJ into spending time with her. Which is why we aren’t sure if we should be excited or a little frightened that just about overnight, we got an entirely new Nicole on the canvas! And yes, we’re talking about Holly.

Because in just two episodes, it’s clear that her infatuation with Johnny is just about going to consume her. Heck, Holly’s still in high school and she’s already — quite literally — pushing herself right between Johnny and Chanel!

She almost confessed her feelings to Johnny, but while we’re certain his response would be to try letting her down as gently as possible, if Holly’s as much like Nicole as we think she is, that may not mean a whole lot. That would just mean that she’d have to get a whole lot more calculating and devious than spilling drinks on Chanel to get her out of the way and prove to Johnny that she’s the one he should love.

Newcomer Ashley Pulemis makes no bones about Holly’s connection to Nicole. “I’m basically a younger version of her,” she told Soap Opera Digest. She’s got a good heart, but she’s also “kind of a wild card.”

We suppose it’s not a huge surprise that Holly takes so much after Nicole, since she never even met her dad. Poor Daniel died before Chloe was even implanted with his and Nicole’s child!

Still, that doesn’t mean Holly is a sociopath. Her childhood, Pulemis explained to SOD, “was filled with a lot of love from Nicole and Eric and all the people around her. But she’s also Nicole’s daughter. You never know what to expect from her. She’s drawn to danger and excitement.”

And while these are still very early days and it remains to be seen just how much danger and excitement, it’s clear that at the very least, Holly has learned a thing or two from her mom and Johnny, Chanel, EJ and the DiMera clan may soon find out that they’ve got a troublemaking teenage version of Nicole on their hands. And when you throw teenage hormones into Nicole’s worst impulses, that may just be more than they’re prepared to handle!

And if Tate’s not careful, he could end up filling the role of Brady, falling for the wrong girl and ending up sucked right into her danger and excitement whether he likes it or not! (Although, he did cause $50,000 worth of damage pulling the fire alarm at his school, so like his dad, Tate may be more than willing to get into his own trouble from time to time too!)
